Configuring an Internet Information Server (IIS)

This topic explains how to configure an Internet Information Server (IIS) for Windows 2003 and 2008.
To configure an Internet Information Server for Windows 2008:
| 1. | Open the IIS Manager. |
| 2. | Under Sites, right-click the Web site for which you want to enable logging and select Properties. |

Tip |
If the right-click menu does not contain a Properties option, select the Web site and click Logging. |

| 3. | From the Format drop-down, select W3C and click Select Fields. |
| 4. | In the W3C Logging Fields dialog, select the following check boxes: |
Date
Time
Client IP Address
User Name
Server IP Address
Server Port
Method
URI Stem
URI Query
Protocol Status
Protocol Substatus
Win32 Status
Time Taken
User Agent

The following path contains a sub-folder for each service running on IIS (e.g. FTPSVC1 or W3SVC1): C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles To define a schedule for collection of log messages from the Log Source, enter the full path of each service to be collected by TLC in the File Collection tab of the Monitored Asset properties dialog (see Table 51). |

To configure an Internet Information Server for Windows 2003:
| 1. | Open the Windows Application Server Manager. |
| 2. | In the left panel, expand the following group: |
Application Server > Internet Information Services (IIS Manager)> [IIS_Server] > Web Sites
Where [IIS_Server] is the IIS Server.
| 3. | In this group, right-click the Web site for which you want to enable logging and select Properties. |
| 4. | In the Web Site tab of the properties dialog, select Enable Logging and WSC Extended Log File Format from the drop-down menu. |
| 5. | Click Properties... |
| 6. | In the Advanced tab of the Logging Properties dialog, select the following check boxes: |
Date
Time
Client IP Address
User Name
Service Name
Server IP Address
Server Port
Method
URI Stem
URI Query
Protocol Status
Protocol Substatus
Win32 Status
User Agent
