Configuring an Alcatel Switch

CollectorA TLC module that gathers or receives log messages from Log Sources.: Network CollectorA type of Collector that listens for Syslog and SNMP-based log messages from network devices. - Syslog

To configure an Alcatel 7700 switch to send log messages to TLC:

1.

At a command line, log in to the switch with admin rights.

2.

Enter:

swlog output socket <Manager_IP>

Where <Manager_IP> is the Manager's IP address.

3.

To display the logging level for the switch and the output destinations for the switch's logs, enter:

show swlog

If the command output contains the following line, the switch has been successfully configured to send log messages to the Manager:

socket ipaddr <Manager_IP>
