Configuring a Cisco IOS Router

To configure a Cisco IOS router to send log messages to TLC:

For Cisco IOS 12.0.3, enter the following commands:

enable

configure terminal

logging on

logging host <Manager_IP>

logging trap <security_level>

show logging

For all other versions, enter:

enable

configure terminal

logging on

service timestamps log datetime localtime

logging <Manager_IP>

Where:

<Manager_IP> is the IP address or host name of the TLC Manager to which the router will send log messages, and

<security_level> is the highest security level (0-7) of log messages to be sent to the Manager (see Table 126). For example, enter "3" to have the router forward all log messages with a security level of 0, 1, 2, or 3.

Save the new configuration or retain it as the default running configuration.

Note	The show logging command displays the addresses and security levels associated with the current logging setup. The command output also includes ancillary statistics.
